About the Friends

The New Friends of the Beaverton City Library is a non-profit organization that supports and promotes library service in Beaverton by:

  • Providing Beaverton City Library with supplemental revenue for materials and services not covered by the library budget; the primary fundraising effort of the Friends being The Book Corner
  • Funding a large portion of the library's Summer Reading program
  • Strengthening relations between the library and schools, local businesses, and other community organizations
  • Promoting public awareness of the many resources and services provided by the library

The Book Corner

In 1996, the Friends opened The Book Corner. Located just one block from the main library, The Book Corner is a non-profit used book store run by the New Friends of the Beaverton City Library offering a wide selection of books and media, all at reasonable prices. The Book Corner is staffed almost entirely by volunteers, and all proceeds support Beaverton City Library.
