TIPs for
CHOOSING
a TOPIC
It's as easy as
A B C:

A. Ideas for projects can come from many sources.

Topics that interest you. (Your favorite hobby, sport, school subject)
Suggestions from adults. (Parents, teachers, mentors, librarians, experts)
Topics suggested in books like 1,001 Ideas for Science Projects.
Projects researched by others in the past.
Ideas you get from browsing science books & magazines.
Ideas from Internet sites.

B. Narrow your topic as much as possible:

Begin with what topic you've chosen:
Movies
Diseases
Ecology

Decide what you're really curious about & focus your topic:
Do movies change people's attitudes?
How does sickness affect people?
How can water pollution be stopped?

Be as exact as you can:
Do movies influence peoples' hopes and fears?
Influences on the rate of recovery from the common cold.
Effects of motorized vs. non-motorized vehicles on public lakes.

C. When choosing a topic, you also need to think about:

Can I complete my project in the allotted time?
Do I have the necessary equipment and resources to complete the project?
Does the project's level of difficulty meet my needs?

If you can't find what you're looking for, ask a librarian!
