Homework Help for Grades 2-5

Homework Help is for children in grades two through grade five. Homework Help for Winter 2010 begins Monday, Janaury 11, 2010. Students grade six and up, please check Teen Homework Help for the schedule of Homework Helpers in the Young Adult area of the library. Stick Buddies

Spend some time after school knitting and crocheting with your favorite grown-up. For beginners and experienced stitchers. You can bring a project that you are working on and stitch or learn some basic stitches from one of our volunteer teachers. Beginners, please bring needles or hooks and yarn to practice with. For grades two through five and accompanying adult. Adults are welcome to bring stitching projects too!

Registration is required. Please phone (503)350-3600 to register or sign-up in person at the Children’s Desk on the first floor of the library. Registration for this session will begin one month before the session.

Craft Club

Spend some after school time making a fun project. Craft Club is for kids grade two through grade five and their favorite grown-up. April's project will be making Spot the Dog, a sock animal. Space is limited to 15 children and 15 grown-ups.

Book Bunch

Book Bunch is a book group for the very beginning reader. Make new friends, do book-related games and activities and share a snack together. April's book is "Green Park" by Trisha Speed Shaskan. When you register for Book Bunch you will receive a copy of this book to checkout from the library. For kindergarten through grade two.

Brick Buddies

Read to the Dogs

Thursdays, April 8, May 13 and June 10, 2010
6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Saturdays, April 3 & 24, May 1 & 22, and June 5, 2010
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to therapy dogs. The dogs and handlers are from the Dove Lewis Animal Assisted Therapy and Education Program. This program is for children who are reading on their own. Sessions are 20 minutes in length. Space in this program is limited.
